The metal scraper flowmeter is a mechatronic product that can also be used as a standard meter. Installation of the scraper flowmeter does not require straight pipe sections, rectifiers, or other auxiliary equipment, and it remains unaffected by pipe fittings such as elbows, tees, and valves. The device operates smoothly, with no vibration or noise, delivering high measurement accuracy—up to 0.2%. Even media as complex as crude oil, water, or solid particle impurities like sand pose no obstacle to its reliable performance. Additionally, the flowmeter exhibits minimal pressure loss, typically below 0.06 MPa, making it suitable for measuring the flow of common petroleum products such as aviation fuel, light oils, low-to-medium viscosity fluids, as well as high-viscosity crudes.
The metal scraper flowmeter is a mechatronic product that can also serve as a standard meter. Even media containing complex impurities like crude oil, water, or solid particles such as sand won’t interfere with its performance. The scraper flowmeter is designed for continuous or intermittent, accurate measurement of liquid flow in pipelines. It features a dual-shell structure with rotors rotating at the same speed. Key advantages include smooth operation, zero pulsation, low noise, high flow capacity, sand-resistant performance, exceptional measurement accuracy, extended service life, and strong adaptability to varying fluid viscosities. As a result, it is widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical processing, light manufacturing, transportation, and commerce.
What are the features of a scraper flowmeter? Let’s take a quick look together below.
1. High measurement accuracy: The basic error typically ranges from 0.2% to 0.5%, and can even reach 0.1% under special requirements. Additionally, the characteristics of scraper-type flowmeters are generally unaffected by fluid conditions or limited by the Reynolds number.
2. Scraper-type flowmeters can measure high-viscosity fluids, and changes in fluid viscosity have minimal impact on the indicated value.
3. The rotary wheel counter accumulates the total fluid flow without requiring an external power source, making it convenient to use. The counter features dual displays for cumulative flow—one of which can be reset to zero—providing users with added convenience and eliminating the need for continuous measurement.
4. The bearings are made from cemented carbide material, offering excellent wear resistance, corrosion protection, sand resistance, and outstanding stability.
5. Differential Regulator: The stepless speed-adjustable differential regulator is a technology available from domestic scraper-type flow meter manufacturers, offering convenient adjustment. When there’s a discrepancy between the indicator reading of the scraper flow meter and its verified value, adjustment is required. Simply use a screwdriver to directly rotate the adjustment rod until the desired correction value is reached—no need to replace any components.
6. The scraper flowmeter is equipped with a photoelectric output shaft, allowing it to work in conjunction with a photoelectric pulse converter for long-distance transmission of either pulse signals or 4-20mA signals. Additionally, the loader is fitted with an electronic meter head that supports RS485 remote communication, enabling direct reading of both instantaneous and cumulative flow rates over even greater distances.
7. Verification Regulation JJG667-2010 for Scraper Flow Meters – Verification Procedure for Liquid Displacement Flow Meters.
What is the structure of a scraper flowmeter? Let’s take a quick look at it together below.
The scraper flowmeter consists of a main chamber, a gear assembly, a precision corrector, and a meter head. The metal scraper flowmeter's main chamber is primarily made up of components such as the rotor, cam, camshaft, scrapers, connecting rods, rollers, cover plates, and the housing—where the inner cavity of the housing forms a circular, hollow barrel. The rotor itself is a rotating, hollow, thin cylindrical tube. We use two pairs of scrapers—four in total—that are arranged in a cross shape relative to the rotating shaft.
